hi guys i need some serious hardware advices
I intend to invest in some hardware for my learning but i'm a little confused, i need some help

i'm interessted in the 3D industry in general but i'm gonna focus on two software (XSI and Maya) i want to take a tour on all those software aspects.
modeling, texturing, lighting, animation... but specially i'm going to focus on the modeling and animation.

i have an old workstation dell precision 380 with :
pentium4 3Ghz em64
ATI fireGL 3100 - 128 Mo
3Go RAM

for my learning, should i only add an new graphic card (Nvidia GeForce 8800 or GeForce 9800 ) and some memory ?
or invest in a brand new workstation

for the new workstation, what do you think of the dell Precision T5400 :

- two Intel® Xeon® E5420 (2,5 GHz, 1333 MHz, 2 x 6 Mo)
- DDR2 FBD 667 MHz 4 Go (2 x 2 Go)
- 512MB PCIe x16 nVidia Quadro FX 1700
- HD Serial ATA II 500 Go
- monitor FP/BL 2208WFP wide 22"
(for the sound card i'm gonna use my old one)

the price is about 1890,00 €

is there any big difference between the quadro FX 1700 512 Mo and the quadro FX 3700 512Mo ?

what do you think ?

thanks in advance

I don't have an Arabic keyboard. If you are still wondering about your computer. I suggest dropping the whole XEON thing and either take Core Duo 2 or go with Quad Core 6600
It depends whether you are rendering a lot or not and if not just stick with core duo 2
Again drop Quadro thing and take either Radeon or GeForce as both have excellent performance like ATi 47xx or NVIDA GT280
It will save you lots of money and give you a boost in performance.
